Monday, September 25th, 2006

Oprah Winfrey has launched a news radio station called Oprah and Friends on US satellite radio.

The stiaion features shows from the queen of chat, which includes her best friend,Gayle King, as a co-host. It is hoped that the queen of TV chat, will be able to bring in some 30 million listners to its station. However there are those who have their doubts, especially since Oprah will have limited on air activity with the station

"Oprah is not a radio personality, she’s a TV personality," Kit Spring of investment bankers Stifel Nicolaus told Reuters.

"She mainly appeals to women and probably won’t compel that many potential subscribers to go out and buy a radio."
