Star Trek is Top of the ‘Most Missed Series’

Its been a while since there was no ‘Trek’ on TV, but due to very poor ratings by the TV series Enterprise, later renamed Star Trek Enterprise, it was canceled in February. But on a poll taken out by Home Media Networks, it has shown that Star Trek is the most missed series. Its producers have however said its time for a ‘Trek break’, however, the Star Trek Series which began in 1966, has topped the poll for most missed, taken by over 1,000 viewers. DO

Letterman has restraining order lifted

A woman who took out a restraining order against presenter David Letterman, because she claimed he was sending her coded messages on air. Colleen Nestler has claimed he used words such as "Oprah" to send her such messages, on his US TV show. However she has failed to prove these allegations in court, and the restraining order has been lifted. DO

Posh Spice: No Thanks to TV Show

Victoria Beckham, has reportedly turned down a role in a new TV Show, with Simon Cowell. The singer says she feels she would not be suitable for the role, because she would not be nasty enough for it. The new show, which will be on ITV/UTV and possible TV3 will instead star Paul O’ Grady, aka Lily Savage, is said to be very pleased with the show. DO

Naomi Watts to star in new Bond Flick

007 has seen more publicly before it has even gone to production. However, a daily tabloid reports that Naomi Watts has sent the producers bosses bananas, to show her interest in the part, which has already been rejected by a number of high profile actresses. And it seems the producers are interested in her for the part! DO

SKY Plus Upgrade on it’s way

In a letter sent to Sky Plus Customers with their SKY magazine January edition. It stated that “ we’ll be streamlining the way sky remote works, so you can get to your Sky+ Planner faster". As predicted in previous Internet reports, you will now be able to access Sky Plus from the ‘TV Guide’ and pressing the ‘green button’, rather than the old way of scrolling to the on-screen option. As well as this the ‘yellow button’ will give access to the ‘A-Z’ listings. The biggest change to the SKY EPG system is the additional categories which will be added, the idea is to tidy up the already cluttered system, especially the Religion channels, Shopping Networks and the Dating services which now have an exploding numerd of channels on Sky. In addition the letter promises that we will now be able to store up to 50 channels in our favorites, the ‘blue button’ on the TV Guide menu will allow access to see what’s on your favorite channels at the same time! X-Factor Shayne hits the number one Christmas spot!

X FactorThe winner of the ITV ( TV3 in Ireland) show X-factor, Shayne Ward, 21, has hit the number one UK hot-spot for Christmas with the single, after less that a week in the Charts, knocking the JCB song to number two. Shayne is reported to be delighted with his instant success. DO

Eastenders reaches ten million viewers on Christmas Day

The battle of the ratings on Christmas Day was won by the BBC (RTE in Ireland), as Eastenders was watched by more than ten million viewers. The high figures were reached as a popular Character ‘ Alfie Moon’ who is played by actor Shane Richie was leaving the Square. DO

Microsoft to End Support for IE For Mac

Although Microsoft announced it would no longer be developing it’s explorer for MAC in 2003, it is now also saying it will stop support for it on December 31st, 2005. “Additionally, as of January 31st, 2006, Internet Explorer for the Mac will no longer be available for download from Mactopia.” (Source Silentcode.net) DO

ITV News Channel to Close Friday

ITV has confirmed that it will close its news channel ‘ITV NEWS CHANNEL’ on Friday the 23rd December. The channel has been having difficulties keeping its audience, with stiff competition from channels like Sky News and BBC News 24. The news channel’s executive said "Following ITV’s announcement last week of a £2m investment in other areas of ITV’s news service we will be looking at the opportunities created by the expansion of our news gathering operation to re deploy as many staff as possible in the New Year." The channels existing staff are expected to be re-deployed to facilitate, news bulletins for ITVs ITV3, and ITV4 channels. DO

Sir Elton & Furnish tie the Knot

One of the UK and Ireland’s most famous gay couple have tied the knot today in The Guildhall, Windsor. Sir Elton, 58, and Mr. Furnish, 43, both appeared happy, and even accepted a gift from the crowed, even after stating they would not be accepting gifts from the public. Their marriage comes after a new British law allowing same sex couples the right to legally marry. British Prime Minister Tony Blair, noted during a news conference, that more people would be watching the wedding coverage on sky that his news conference. He went on to wish the couple the all the best, and congratulated them. DO

Sky passes eight million direct to home subscribers

JCB Song at Number One

The JCB song, which took years to hit the charts, due to the fact that Luke Concannon and John Parker wanted it released from their own Label! The song is now at number one in the UK, leaving Westlife in its wake at number two. The pair recently appeared on RTE’s The Late Late Show, and performed the song, which was greatly received by the audience. DO

Colin Farrell, has admitted himself into treatment care center, it has been reported. The Irish actor is being treated for an unknown medication dependency. The 29 year old actor is almost as well know for his social life antics, as he is for his on screen performances. The actor is also being treated for exhaustion, according to his publicist. DO
