Tv Recordings on Apple iPod!

Monday, November 21st, 2005

iPodGood News for US TiVo and Apple iPod users. The American Video recording system, ‘TiVo’, similar in ways to ‘Sky +’ in Ireland and the UK, have expanded their recording service to allow people to transfer their recordings to portable systems such as the Apple iPod, this all seems a far cry from Apples statement, noting; that the iPods are not intended strictly for such usage (video) but that it is simply an added function. Such a technological move, aims to place peoples TV Shows in there hands! Although TiVo experts say that the service will have added security protection to prevent copyright abuse from users. Sony Walkman - A Series

Saturday, November 19th, 2005

SonySony Walkmans are back, well that is to say that they never left. But it may have felt like it, with the market-take over by Apple’s iPOD. A new walkman is about to be marketed in both print and broadcast media, for the new ‘Sony Walkman A Series’. The advertising campaign is centered around the idea that music is an addiction and that the new walkman is the way that you can feed this addiction. The new design is reportedly revolutionary when compared to the first walkman over 20 years ago. If it can compete , or rather catch up with the iPod is another question though, as iPod’s are becoming smaller and more functional. DO

TV3 and ITV - Legal Case

Thursday, November 10th, 2005

Tv3 irelandTV3 ireland has begun a legal case againset it’s shareholder ITV. The company (ITV) owns 45 percent of the TV3, and the legal case is over rights to certain television shows including soaps like Coronation Street.

The move comes after ITV has become free to Air Channel, meaning that the public can view ITV Channels, including UTV on SKY Digital, in Ireland this is through the ADD Channels feature.

What this actually means for TV3 is that it’s content can now be view on another Channel, and as most of this content is from UTV, “this would damage advertising revenues considerably”, a source told Digital Orbit. Especially when you consider that, most of TV3’s viewers tune in using the SKY Digital Platform. Although UTV is availabe to all other suscribers such as Chorus and NTL Ireland, the case seems unaffected by this. It is thought that the comapy is seeking to have the ITV Channels scrambled in Ireland, Although ITV 3 and ITV 4 will most lightly not be affected for Irish viwers.

A Leading Law firm Clifford Chance in London is persuing the case for the company.
